Bishop P.F. Reding Catholic Secondary School’s Aastha Relan selected as a recipient of the Queen’s Chancellor’s Scholarship.

Bishop P.F. Reding Catholic Secondary School is thrilled to announce that Aastha Relan, a Gr. 12 student, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Queen’s Chancellor’s Scholarship. This award was established in celebration of Queen’s University’s 150th anniversary and is one of Queen’s Major Admission Awards. Candidates must be nominated by their school and of those nominees, only fifty scholarships are awarded nationwide. Award winners must excel academically, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and be creative and original thinkers.

In addition to being the recipient of this prestigious scholarship, Aastha was also awarded the Diabetes Hope Foundation Scholarship and was named Bishop P. F. Reding’s Student Award of Excellence recipient.

This exceptionally bright young woman maintains a 95% average in Gr. 12 while being involved in many leadership roles, extra-curricular clubs, and volunteer activities at Bishop Reding and in the Milton community. Notably, Aastha founded the Bishop Reding MedSci and HOSA Chapter and directed the school’s STEM Program. Artistically, she is an accomplished pianist and plays the saxophone in the school band and athletically, she partook in both basketball and badminton teams at Bishop Reding.                                                                                                                                         

Aastha has accepted an offer at McMaster University where she will begin her Bachelor of Health Sciences in September 2019.
