Bishop Reding Secondary Catholic School Council Presents:
“Connecting Families To Be Empowered Through Art While Feelin’ the Rhythm”
Bishop Reding Catholic School Council is pleased to let our Family Community know that, through our Ministry PRO (Parents Reaching Out) Grant, we’ve organized for the first time in Bishop Reding history an event that will include Students, Parents and Teachers, which will leave you empowered and rejuvenated! This event will take place at Bishop Reding on Tuesday, February, 6th, 2018, for all families in our Bishop Reding Family Community! This event focuses on an awareness of Mental Health & Wellness. This is something that we take quite seriously as any of our loved ones can be affected. We have an incredible evening planned that will be filled with taking us on a journey of self-discovery through the Arts and Rhythm. Doors will be open at 6 pm and the evening will go until 9:00 pm!
Michael Way Skinner, who’s a phenomenal speaker, will speak to Students and Parents from 6:30 pm till 7:15 pm. He has such an incredible connection with everyone and he will leave you feeling empowered!
Families will also have available a selection choice of 2 out of 3 fun-filled workshops which consist of Zumba, DrumFit and Wire Sculpturing! This fun packed evening will give us an opportunity to come together as a Family Community to enjoy the adventures of “Rhythm, Movement and Creativity of the Arts”, which will contribute to physical and mental well-being ! The first workshop will be from 7:25 pm- 8:10 pm and the last workshop 8:15 pm – 9:00 pm. Please dress in Active Wear and Comfy Shoes!
This event is a First Come First Serve, so please register as soon as possible as we wouldn’t want you to miss out on this golden opportunity that will leave you empowered and rejuvenated. Also this event is FREE! Plus we will be having refreshments and healthy snacks too!
Participants will take part in a “Wire Sculpture Workshop” inspired by Alexander Calder’s various mobiles. Titus Studios workshop program will lead family members through creating a wire sculpture that includes choosing coloured glass pieces that represent certain qualities.
“With your family strike a pose, look at your contours and then create your very own portrait of one another using wire and found materials. You’ll go home with a uniquely designed sculpture of you, by you, and for you.” The sculpture will be strung up in a provided wooden frame.
Working together as a family on a collaborative piece can build and maintain stronger bonds within a family unit. Titus Studios programs motto is, building and maintaining character in the Arts which is what our services will provide for the families within our community. The best part after completion of this workshop, you’ll be able to take home your master piece as a keepsake!
“Zumba Fitness” instructed by Christine Heit, is a fitness made fun for the entire family. This family structured class would consist of simple dance choreography with fitness thrown in. The infectious music and dancing, will incorporate many styles from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Zumba is safe, fun and effective! Bringing families together for such an event, would not only have everyone smiling but would reinforce the importance of positivity and enjoyment as a family! Having the students and parents doing it together, will build their relationship and will promote healthy living, lifestyle and well-being.
“DrumFit” is an exciting and exhilarating cardio-based program that incorporates Rhythm and Fitness (for mind, body and soul). With DrumFit, the families will collaborate and explore rhythms in a variety of ways, have fun and improve their fitness and well-being. We promise, when starting this activity, you wouldn’t want to stop!
