Update #5: All HCDSB Schools CLOSED to Students on Tues. January 21, 2020

On January 13, 2020, the Ontario Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA), representing Catholic teachers across the province, gave notice that they will hold a one-day, province-wide full withdrawal of services (strike) on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. As OECTA represents all of our HCDSB elementary and secondary school teachers, a full withdrawal of services would mean that no instruction will take place in any of our classrooms. Update #3: Grade 9 Math EQAO Postponed

This is a follow-up to the announcement by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) confirming that they will begin ‘job action’ as of Monday, January 13, 2020. In light of this job action, the decision has been made that HCDSB schools will NOT administer the EQAO Grade 9 Math Assessment, scheduled to take place in our schools on January 14th and 15th 2020. UPDATE: OECTA Job Action Proceeds – All Schools Will Remain OPEN Jan. 13

We were notified yesterday afternoon that the provincial negotiations with OECTA were adjourned, with no further meeting dates scheduled at this time. As a result, OECTA is moving ahead with the job action across the province, beginning Monday, January 13, 2020. All schools will remain OPEN, teachers will report to work, and student instruction will continue in our classrooms during this period of job action.
