Free real-time math tutoring now available
Grade 7 to 10 math students at Halton Catholic District School Board now have access to 20 hours a week of free, online math tutoring to help them improve and succeed in math. Check out HomeworkHelp.ilc.org where certified Ontario teachers are available Sunday to Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., for one-on-one confidential help. HCDSB is one of 15 English-language boards taking part in this pilot project funded by the Ministry of Education.
Ask a Teacher … virtually guaranteed to help
TV Ontario recently launched a new initiative, sponsored by RBC Financial Group, aimed at helping secondary students achieve their best. Ask a Teacher is an interactive portion of the Independent Learning Centre’s website at www.ilc.org.
Ask a Teacher offers live, one on one connections with certified Ontario teachers five days a week, Sunday to Thursday, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. This free service connects students with teachers in a virtual classroom, with real answers in real time. Teachers and students communicate using text and a virtual whiteboard for one on one tutoring.
Parents often don’t have the time, knowledge or money to provide their children with the extra help or tutoring required. Ask a Teacher has more than 1,000 exercises and links to help students practice for EQAO exams, work on grade and subject specific exercises and learn how to write essays, study and research on line. And best of all, it’s free!
